In China, TCM hospitals are not “alternative clinics” — they form a complete healthcare system parallel to Western hospitals. As of 2024, China has over 2,000 county-level and above TCM hospitals, including over 200 Grade 3A (top-tier) TCM hospitals.
For international patients, three tiers of TCM service are relevant:
Top Grade 3A TCM hospitals: Guang’anmen, Xiyuan, Longhua — representing China’s highest TCM standards TCM departments at top general hospitals: PUMCH’s TCM department, combining multidisciplinary advantages International medical departments: Dedicated to foreign patients, with English service and insurance direct billing
This article, based on verifiable 2024 rankings and official information, focuses on top TCM hospitals with international patient services.

International insurance direct billing
Longer consultation times for thorough communication

TCM diagnosis uses four methods:
Observation: Facial complexion, tongue coating
Listening/Smelling: Voice quality, odors
Inquiry: Symptom questions (with interpreter assistance)
Palpation: Pulse diagnosis (no language needed)
MyMedVia’s Full Medical Concierge includes a specialized TCM interpreter who accurately conveys concepts like “qi deficiency” or “yin deficiency with fire.”

Yes. TCM hospitals typically offer:
