Why Trust China’s Top Endoscopy Centers?
1. WEO Global Certification
The WEO “Global Center of Excellence” certification is the highest international standard in endoscopy, evaluating endoscopy quality, training systems, infection control, and patient safety. Only 20 hospitals worldwide hold this certification — Beijing Friendship Hospital is one of them.
2. Staggering Procedural Volume
Renji Hospital performs 260,000 procedures annually — what does this mean?
Top UK endoscopy centers typically perform 10,000-20,000 procedures per year. Renji alone performs 10-20 times the volume of a top UK center.
Endoscopy is highly experience-dependent. Volume directly translates to physician expertise and early lesion detection rates.
3. International Academic Impact
China’s top gastroenterology departments publish extensively in top international journals. Renji Hospital’s H. pylori quadruple therapy was included in international guidelines — the first time a Chinese regimen was incorporated into mainstream international guidelines.
4. Advanced Equipment
China’s top endoscopy centers are equipped with the latest international-generation equipment:
Olympus 290 series HD endoscopes Fuji Blue Laser Imaging endoscopes Magnifying endoscopy, NBI narrow-band imaging Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS) Capsule endoscopy systems
Beijing vs Shanghai: How to Choose?
| Factor | Beijing | Shanghai |
|---|---|---|
| Top endoscopy certification | ✅ Friendship WEO Global CoE | ❌ No WEO CoE, but Renji has largest volume |
| International patient services | ✅ PUMCH IMS (70+ years), Friendship Intl Center | ✅ Huashan Intl Medical Center |
| Annual procedures | Friendship: 100,000+ | Renji: 260,000+ (#1 nationally) |
| Technique range | Friendship: comprehensive | Renji: widest nationally |
| Visa convenience | 144-hour transit visa-free | 144-hour transit visa-free |
Both cities are excellent choices for international patients seeking endoscopy. Beijing leads in global certification, while Shanghai leads in scale and technique breadth.
